If you ever get a chance to visit a military airport, I would suggest the Nashville International Airport. The airport is a military public airport situated in Tennessee at the Southeastern side of Nashville. This great airport was established with the name of Berry Field in 1937 but got the current name of Nashville International Airport in 1988. It covers approximately three thousand nine hundred acres and has four runways. This phenomenal airport has non-stopping flights to more than 70 European and North American Cities with sixteen airlines. This military airport has a National Guard base and is also 118th Airlift Wing Home. From the time of its construction, it has undergone many changes, including names, renovations, reconstructions, expansions.
Since 2011, there is an enormous growth in flights and passengers, while in 2013, the airport hit a record of around ten million passengers. The airport was given the title of the fastest-growing airport with having a claim of a fifteen percent passenger increase last year.
BNA Vision
It is a renovation project of worth 1.2 billion dollars launched by Metro Nashville Authority in 2016 and is anticipated to complete by 2023. The airport renovated in 1987 was not sufficient for increasing passengers, shipment services, and more international air travel destinations and was insufficient to cope up with the growth of the airport.
BNA Vision is the extension, growth, and development plan consisting of separate projects, including the construction of a new modern facility of international arrivals, expansion, and renovation of the main entrance and ticketing hall, reopening and extension of D Concourse, installation of new garages for parking. The authority, for the accommodation of potential growth and development, is also renewing its master plan that includes increasing the 2L/20R runaway and building a new terminal.
Parking Garage Construction
One of the main projects of the BNA Vision is the provision of the new parking facilities through the construction of parking garages. One of the garages will have twenty-two hundred parking spaces and the ground center for transportation. Currently, the garage, anticipated to be completed before fall 2020, is twenty-eight hundred spaces, six-level garage.
Current Projects
Currently, there are several projects under the process. The terminal parking garage is ready and operational functionally. The terminal space on the fourth floor will be a new building for office where there would be security administration for transportation, and other services of the airport would be provided to people. A utility plant project is already complete. By the end of summer 2020, it is expected that extensions of south and north wings along with D Concourse would open.
The construction work worth 1.2 billion dollars is happening in the airport, but this construction is breaking records. All the partners of Nashville International Airport are working closely to make this project a successful one. BNA vision's project first phase is anticipated to be completed by 2023, and it will be record-breaking as well as a record-making project phase.
